If your weak like me, you can’t help but fall for dogs begging for food from the table. Have no fear, for here is a list of 10 human foods that are ok to give to your dog.
1. Yogurt – Yogurt is especially useful for a dog’s digestive system. The pro-biotics from the active bacteria contained in yogurt do wonders for a dog’s stomach. Make sure to stay away from yogurts that contain artificial sweeteners or added sugars.
2. Watermelon – Seedless watermelon is a tasty treat and a great way to rehydrate your pup.
3. Cooked Chicken. - Cooked, unseasoned chicken can be used to beef up a dinner if your furry friend has had a long day at the park and deserves to be rewarded.
4. Baby Carrots – High in fiber and good for a dog’s teeth
5. Eggs – Throwing in an extra egg for your pup in the morning can give them that extra protein boost they need to start the day. Stay away from adding any salt or pepper though.
6. Pumpkin – This is a good fruit you can give to your dog. Yes, you read that right, it’s a fruit. The important thing to remember here is that you have to serve your dog pumpkin in the right way. Preferred ways are in puree form, or mashed pumpkin. Stay away from the stem, leaves or any part with small sharp hairs.
7. Salmon – Cooked salmon has a good source of omega 3 fatty acids, which are important for keeping your dog’s coat healthy and shiny, as well as supporting your dog’s immune system. Get creative and find ways to incorporate salmon into your dog’s diet.
8.Green Beans – Filling and low in calories, done and done. Once again, no salt.
9. Oatmeal – Full of fiber which can be good for older dogs with bowel irregularity issues. Make sure to cook it, and not add any sugar or flavor additives.
10. Peanut Butter - Giving your dog the occasional tablespoon of unsalted peanut butter is a nice treat you can both enjoy. It's a great source of protein and healthy fats for dogs. Make sure the peanut butter you use DOES NOT contain xylitol as it can be very dangerous for dogs. Choose an organic natural peanut butter to be safe.
